Name: Daniel Pearce @pearceblainedaniel
What school are you a rep for and what are you studying: I am representing Memorial University of Newfoundland. I am currently studying Nursing and plan to pursue medicine after obtaining my BN.
What other activities do you participate in on campus: I have a huge passion for music and have been playing guitar for close to 13 years. Writing, listening, and being surrounded by music is an important part of my life. Being with friends is something I cherish as well, and is what I spend a lot of my time doing. Anything fitness related peaks my interest; jogging, boxing, HIIT, yoga, etc.
Workout of choice: For me personally, nothing is as satisfying as hitting a new PR. That being said, my favourite workout style is anything powerlifting centred. Strength training with low volume and high intensity is where I focus most of my time.
Favourite exercise: My favourite exercise is without a doubt the deadlift. There is something so primal and raw about the deadlift that really gets me fired up. It is such a simple movement but has incredible carry-over and practicality.
What made you want to join #TeamJS as a Campus Rep: I had initially heard about Campus Reps through a friend of mine who thought I might make a good candidate. After looking in to it for a while I was totally on board. I love helping others reach their potential, campus life is crazy and I understand how hard it can be to find time for yourself. Being able to inform others on what products fit their specific goals helps take some of the burden.
How did you get started on your fitness journey: I first found my love for the iron after a highschool breakup, funnily enough. At the time I was just looking for something to keep myself busy. I pretty quickly stumbled upon weightlifting and was immediately hooked. I couldn’t pull myself away from it, I remember my first year of lifting I didn’t miss a single workout.
Favourite supplements/stacks: I’m a big fan of Cobra Labs (The Curse) as far as pre-workouts go. I also take Mammoth Whey (chocolate) and absolutely love it. I take multi-vitamins and fish oil on a daily basis as well, they are great for keeping your immune system in check and your body healthy.
Most fulfilling moment as a Campus Rep: I would say that my most fulfilling moment as a Campus Rep was the first time someone approached me in the gym asking me for recommendations on supplementation. It felt great being recognized and trusted as a Campus Rep and I was excited to help a fellow gym-bro out.
Favourite gym tracks: I’m a big fan of both rap and metal, anything that pumps me up and gets me ready for a big lift is a good song in my opinion. Here is my top 4:
- Slipknot – The Negative One
- August Burns Red – White Washed
- Roy Jones Jr. – Body Head Anthem
- Tool - Sober
What advice would you give to others who are looking to make a change in their life: In my experience, the most important thing a new lifter should know is that anything worth having won’t come easy. Not all progress will be visible, pay attention to the numbers and recognize that every time you add weight, it is progress. Do not be discouraged by the weight-scale or by what others are doing, with enough time and effort you can get to where you want to be. Do it for yourself and let the other benefits follow.
